AZIZ RABBAH PARTICIPATES IN THE CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT IN NEW YORK

Mr. Aziz RABBAH, Minister of Energy, Mining, and Sustainable Development participated, at the head of a delegation of officials from the sector of energy and sustainable development, in the Action for Climate Summit held in New York, on September 21-23, 2019, by the United Nations.
As part of the pre-summit activities organized on September 21 and 22, the Minister participated in the high-level opening session of the Energy Transition Track, held at UN Headquarters.
The Minister also took part in the side event organized by Denmark and Ethiopia, co-leads of the Coalition on Energy Transition, which was attended by ministers and senior officials of institutions and international companies. This event took place in the form of three high-level panels, focusing on energy efficiency strategies, renewable energy development policies, and accelerating access to energy.
In this regard, Morocco has managed, as part of its new model of development advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to develop an energy model based mainly on the rise of the importance of  renewable energies and the strengthening of energy efficiency, which positions it today among the countries that are advanced and really committed to energy transition.
The Minister also took part in the High Level Consultative Meeting of the Sahel Region Climate Commission, organized by the President of Niger and marked by the participation of the Secretary General of the United Nations.
On this occasion, the Minister also held talks with officials of institutions and international organizations to discuss possibilities and ways of strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
