A MEETING TO CONSOLIDATE ENERGY COOPERATION BETWEEN MOROCCO AND GERMANY



On the sidelines of the "World Ministerial Conference on the integration of renewable energy", held on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019 in Berlin, Mr. Mohammed GHAZALI, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Sustainable Development (MEMDD), held a meeting with Mr. Andreas FEICHT, German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy.

During this meeting, Mr. Mohammed GHAZALI and Mr. Andreas FEICHT hailed the excellent relations that bind Morocco and Germany, recalling the interest of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in strengthening these relations at all levels of common interest, be it at the bilateral level or within the framework of the relations of partnership linking Morocco to the European Union.

Subsequently, a fruitful exchange focused on various energy projects launched and opportunities in terms of partnership between the two countries for the development of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Research & Development, as well as on the need for innovation including green hydrogen as a future trend that may serve various applications for which both parties are expected to make efforts to take full advantage of said applications.            

At the end of the meeting, and after an update on the progress status of the partnership actions between the two parties, Mr. Mohammed GHAZALI and Mr. Andreas FEICHT welcomed the quality of the exchanges and the progress made in cooperation and reaffirmed their willingness to work more closely in the field of energy, in particular that of renewable energies.
