Safety and risk prevention are currently the cornerstone of any sustainable development approach. These concepts, which assert themselves in any economic, social or environmental project, are at the heart of the concerns of the Department of Energy and Mining (DEM) in general and of the Risk Control and Prevention Directorate (DCPR) in particular.

1. To this end and in order to guide its control and risk prevention actions in a methodical manner, the strategic vision of the DCPR serving as a guide for the achievement of its goals focuses on the following 3 aspects:
2. Strengthening the control of safety and environmental protection in energy and mining facilities ;
3. Improving quality control of petroleum products ;
4. The adoption of a culture of prevention and evaluation of actions undertaken to improve safety in facilities in the energy and mining sector. 

To implement its strategic vision and respond effectively to issues related to energy and mining sector security, the DCPR pursues, among other things, the main orientations relating to:

• the reform of the laws and regulations concerning the control of safety within energy and mining facilities ;
• monitoring the implementation of the recommendations of safety and risk assessment audits at energy and mining facilities ;
• the computerization of the procedures related to the management of the control of the safety of the facilities pertaining to this sector and related to the quality of the petroleum products ;
• monitoring of the environmental impact studies for projects related to the energy and mining sector ;
• the elaboration, in consultation with the bodies concerned, of normative documents for the harmonization of the activities of the sector, with a particular focus on safety, consumer protection, as well as environmental protection.
